Pittsburgh Low-T Treatment Injury Lawyers

Low testosterone can cause a man to be extremely fatigued and depressed, which can take a toll on his family life, social life and work life. Although low testosterone is very common in older men, it can also be a common occurrence in younger men as well.

When pharmaceutical companies realized how widespread this problem was and that they could provide testosterone replacement therapy or low-T therapy, they began aggressively pushing their product to medical doctors and the general public. Their efforts worked so well that that the testosterone boosting market is now a $2 billion dollar industry. The percentage of men over 40 taking testosterone tripled between 2001 and 2011.

What many of these pharmaceutical companies and doctors failed to adequately inform the public is that there may be a high cardiovascular risk associated with taking low testosterone treatment products. This is especially true for older men, but even young men may be at risk for heart attacks, blood clots and strokes while taking ‘Low T’ therapy drugs.

If you or your loved one has suffered a heart attack, blood clot, stroke or other thrombotic ailment while taking testosterone replacement therapy, you may have a right to file a product liability claim or join in a class action lawsuit.

Testosterone Treatment: Heart Attack And Stroke Risks

In 2013, the Journal of the American Medical Association published a study which evaluated 9,000 veterans and found that 29% of men using testosterone therapy had a higher risk of heart attack and stroke.

Another 2014 study found that testosterone treatment may double a man’s risk of heart attack.

The medical community is learning more about the side effects and dangers of Low-T therapies causing the pharmaceutical companies to disclose more information about their products.

While many men are not at risk, those that were should have been informed of the risks or not been prescribed the testosterone treatment to begin with.

Don’t pay for the pharmaceutical companies negligence and greed – contact an attorney to determine whether you should file a product liability case.

FDA Warnings For Testosterone Treatment Drugs

Although the FDA approves testosterone products, they do have concerns about the link between Low-T Therapy and heart attacks, strokes, and even sudden death.

The FDA has only approved testosterone products for men who are tested as having low testosterone AND also have been diagnosed with an associated medical condition by a medical professional or doctor.

On January 31, 2014, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning against taking FDA-approved testosterone products. On June 6th 2014, the FDA added a general warning about the potential for venous blood clots on testosterone products.
